DISCOVER A DREAM WATERFRONT HOME
Zoe Goddard’s family had been happily settled in their brand new “forever home” for 12 months when her hubby fell in love with a block of land they could not pass up. They threw caution (and their forever home) to the wind and jumped at the opportunity to buy and build again.
When you see the location, you’ll understand why! It’s a breathtaking 1200m2 waterfront block on the lagoon and just a hop, skip and jump from the beach and the centre of Terrigal, on NSW’s Central Coast. Nine years earlier, the couple had bid at auction on a block just three doors away and missed out so you might say, this was meant to be.
Zoe signed up for Three Birds Reno School in 2018, shortly after we’d finished Bonnie’s house, and was one of the lucky ducks who was invited to Bon’s Open Home, where much of her inspiration for her latest build came from. “I literally got so much inspo from her home, I absolutely had the best day! I got my money’s worth right there.”

THE VISION
The vision was a stark white relaxing holiday house on the water, perfect for extended family vacations. We also always kept the future in mind and built multi-dwelling knowing we would be empty nesters one day.
We love the layout of three bedrooms and one living room upstairs and the main bed and ensuite downstairs. The kitchen, dining and entertaining are on the lower level leading out to the pool so we could see the kids while they were swimming.
THE PLAN
We lived in the home for 18 months and were going to renovate as the ideas were endless, but we weighed up the costs and there were so many underlying issues with the current house (electrical, plumbing etc) that we chose to build.
We based the plans for the build on our previous house as we have three children and the layout suited our family perfectly. The large parcel of land meant we could build two dwellings. As our children were older at the time of the build and we only had our daughter at home, the plan was to stay in the main house until our daughter left home and then move into the two-bedroom flat and rent out the house.

THE GODDARD’S NEW FOREVER HOME(s)
The main house has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 powder rooms (one inside and one outside) plus a full-size pool.
The flat has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom plus a private plunge pool. Currently, the flat is a great little Airbnb business (guests love the privacy, the plunge pool and the proximity to town and the beach) and we are in the process of putting the main house on Airbnb as well. We also use the house as a photo shoot location.

That we have lifetime access to the Facebook group. I love the fact that while you are renovating/building you are the student in the group and then after you have had your experience you can help other students by offering the good/bad points from your own experience.
I also loved being able to go back and reference things, especially dimensions, in the course materials.
