Located in The Hills District of Sydney, Erin’s home had great bones but the brick exterior with the terracotta roof was giving 1990s suburbia and the tired interior needed updating to suit her family of five. The transformation is one of our biggest yet and we can’t wait to share it with you!

OUR MOST CHALLENGING PROJECT YET!
It's been way too long between drinks... but for good reason! We've been busy working on our most challenging project yet.
The brief? To fix the floor plan and make the home a haven for intimate family living and a beautiful, inviting space to work, entertain and accommodate the occasional overseas visitor. But the floor plan was anything but beautiful - it was more like a rabbit warren with no open plan, odd-shaped rooms, dark pockets, different floor heights and different styles in each room.
The result? A little slice of Spain in Sydney. The owners will feel like they're on a Mediterranean island vacay every day.
In this 5-part series we’ll be doing things a little bit differently. Instead of revealing rooms at the end of every episode, we wanted to show a more authentic journey of how we sequentially worked through the design phase, starting off with our Vision Board (of course) and then moving through the all important 5 ‘Fs’ - facade, floorplan, fixtures, fittings and furniture! We’ll also take you behind the scenes of the construction with Rawson Homes and our final house reveals will be shared in the last two episodes of the series. #savingthebestforlast

Flashback to November last year when we asked ouR audience....
"Do you want us to renovate your home?"
We were totally overwhelmed by the response, with over 800 Sydney-siders submitting their homes for consideration. Especially when there was a BIG catch - they’d need to hand over their keys, their budget and full creative control to us! Situated in Windsor, a historic town north-west of Sydney, the cute cottage is home to mums, Sarah and Cath and their two sons, Chaise and Addison. We wanted to give this modern family a modern update to their old home. Get ready to watch as a humble #windsorcottage gets a renovation fit for #windsorcastle.

Hey gang! Hot on the heels of Sophie’s Mediterranean masterpiece, we’re baaaaaack and ready to reveal our next renovation project!
We had visions of a vacay at Soph’s place… pool parties in the pavilion… G&T’s on the terrace… but there’s no rest for the wicked and it was straight back home to roll up our sleeves for our next reno #realitybites
For our eleventh project we’re back on home turf, in suburban Sydney. Home to a lovely family of five, this house is your typical Aussie plain Jane, double-storey, brick build. She’s on a great sized block but is definitely lacking street appeal. There’s a swimming pool that has seen better days, black floors #gotogo and lots of wooden ‘features’ that just aren’t doing her any favours!
We’re going to give this girl a full makeover – we wonder if her family will recognise her after all the nips and tucks?

THE HINTERLAND HIDEAWAY
When Sophie Bell (a.k.a Peppa Hart) joined the Three Birds family many moons ago as our website designer slash digital guru, we had no idea we were on a collision course for this exciting collaboration. But 4 years later, when Soph told us she wanted to build her dream home, on her dream block of land (albeit a long way from Sydney)... our hearts and minds simultaneously exploded as we saw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring together our shared passion for family homes that combine minimalist style with maximum 'wow' factor... not to mention a whole heap of white-on-white-on-white #whatelse. So the planets aligned and this collaboration become a labour of love for all involved, producing one of the most unique homes we've ever seen.

After a few years renovating our personal Forever Homes (and wow, what an amazing experience that was), we've decided it was time to go back to our roots, with a quickie reno of an old-school Aussie eyesore. And of course, she's in our heartland - the Hills District of Sydney. This 60s home lacks all character and charm, it has no endearing features and absolutely zero street appeal - just what we were looking for! #uglyduckling
