“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” - Pablo Picasso

Even if your dream home renovation is a total pipe dream, it’s never too soon to start gathering your inspiration. The more you collect, the more you’ll have to tap into your exact vision when the time comes. And the more compelling and authentic your vision will be.

WHY INSPIRATION MATTERS

Can I tell you a funny story? Did you know that Lana’s entire inspiration for her forever home was from a place she’s never been to? Don’t be fooled by her hashtag, #santoriniinsydney - she hasn’t been to Santorini, or in fact, anywhere in Greece! And now she doesn’t need to, because she’s there every day! #bucketlistticked

What this story shows is just how amazingly compelling your inspo images can be. Heck, you can design your entire forever home from pictures off the internet #bloodyamazing! The key is to collect authentic inspo you can use to create and bring to life a credible vision.

WE LOVE TO FIND OUR INSPO FROM…

INSTAGRAM

Duh, bet you couldn’t have guessed that one! Perhaps our all-time fave. Have you ever logged in for a quick scroll through your friends’ happy snaps and found yourself, hours later, perusing seaside hotels in the Bahamas?! #guilty It’s so easy to do! So, while you’re there, remember to save the shots you love so you can find them again later.

If you’re not pinning you’re not winning! Pinterest is another rabbit warren of amazing reno inspo, we definitely recommend you set yourself up an account… and follow us while you’re at it!

We hope you’ll find some inspo here!

HOTELS + HOLIDAYS

There’s nothing like a plush hotel suite to get your inspo juices flowing! Whether you’re lucky enough to be staying there or just holidaying vicariously through your computer screen, be sure to save lots of photos that inspire you for your own project.

And don’t forget your family vacay pics. When it comes to gathering inspo to create your vision board, we want it to capture how you want to feel in your home, as well as how you want it to look. Holidays are usually when you and your family are at the most relaxed, possibly the same vibe you want to replicate in your family home.

SAVE YOUR SNAPS

If ripping pages from magazines is your thing (just do it quietly if you’re doing the sneaky rip in the doctor’s waiting room) – go for it! Or you maybe you prefer an iPhone screenshot, that’s cool too. The point is to start saving inspiration wherever and whenever you find it. It’ll make things much easier then it comes to creating the vision board for your project. Want to know what comes next? We’ll teach you at our Reno School!
