2015 HIGHLIGHTS (AND LOWLIGHTS)

By Lana, Bonnie and Erin

Hugs and kisses oooxxx to all our supporters on this New Year’s Eve. 2015 was our first calendar year together and... (excuse the cliché) we couldn’t have done it without you. Your passion for transforming homes and beautiful spaces (usually white ones) has taken our business to places we never expected.  Here’s some highlights from the past 12 months and a sneaky preview of what’s to come in 2016:

MOST IMPORTANT MILESTONE

We always say that “family comes first” and on this day we shut down the work site to take our three youngest through the school gates for the first time.

FAVE ROOM

All three of us voted this master suite as our #1 room of 2015.  Not sure the pictures do it justice but we joined two bedrooms to make a massive master with its own dedicated dressing room.

BIGGEST TRANSFORMATION

No surprise here, but we can’t go past The Void in House 3.

NEWEST CHALLENGE

If managing a 6 week timeline isn’t stressful enough, try adding a film crew into the mix. With some trepidation we launched our own You Tube channel to take you behind-the-scenes of our renovations. Thank you for all the wonderful feedback. If you missed it, you can always binge-view our Season One at threebirdsrenovations.com/youtube.

HIGHLIGHT

Seeing our alfresco transformation on the cover of Adore Home Magazine – Paradise Edition.

LOWLIGHT

This was literally a lowlight/no-light when Bonnie discovered our stunning chandelier had no bulb or electrical wires. We hung it anyway as a piece of art and were glad to hear the new owners have since wired it up. If you want to see the embarrassing moment unfold, it was captured live in Episode 8.

BEST RENO TIP

Spray your bricks! There is no longer any excuse for ugly red brick houses – they can be transformed in just 1 day! Check out Episode 7 on our You Tube channel to see it in action.

GREATEST GETAWAY

Bonnie and Lana’s trip to France. We stayed in the most beautiful place on the south coast, La Co(o)rniche, and then a few nights in Paris. In case you’re wondering, Erin was invited but chose not to come (she’s a bit different ;-).

DIFFERENT TO LAST YEAR

Let’s be honest, our Three Birds Xmas party this year was bland (as suggested in the pic) and in stark contrast to the wild affair a year earlier. Bonnie’s baby bump might have had something to do with it.

BEST BUDGET BUY

Ikea wardrobe doors $55 each. Say no more.

BIGGEST SURPRISE

Bonnie preggers with child no. 4

BIGGEST TEST OF PATIENCE

Having to wait so long for our next house.  An old debt and vendor’s death has delayed settlement.  Fingers crossed it’s sorted in the New Year.

RECURRING THEME

Bonnie and Erin holidaying together with their families in Byron Bay and not inviting Lana (again!).

#1 INSTA POST

You all went crazy for this white weatherboard.

BEST EMAIL

From the family that bought House 3 from us. “It's now been 4 weeks since we moved in and we wanted to let you know how much we love the house. Thank you for creating such a lovely and warm, bright and open space for our family to live in and enjoy. We look forward to many happy years here. You have done such a great job with the house. Good luck with your next project!”

WHAT LIES AHEAD IN 2016

Bonnie’s Beach Shack reno| House 4 reno | Lana’s Home reno | Series 2 on YouTube and lots more white stuff. Oh, and of course the birth of Bonnie’s new bub in January! Can’t wait to share the next 12 months with you all.
