BIANCA HITS A HOLE IN ONE WITH HER ‘MODITERRANEAN’ MASTERPIECE

A few months back we received the loveliest email from a very proud husband, asking us to check out the amazing project his wife, Reno School student Bianca Mulligan, has been busy pouring her heart and soul into over the past few years. It’s fair to say that we were blown away by what we saw and gave Bianca a bell to get the goss on her project. As they say, one thing led to another and next minute Erin and Lana were Brisbane-bound to check out the pad in person and filmed their tour for all to see as part of our Three Birds Home Tours series.

We chatted to Bianca to get all the details of her modern Mediterranean beauty, ‘Casa Blanca’

Located just outside Brisbane, Brookwater is a golf community surrounding a Greg Norman-designed championship golf course, the perfect place for Bianca and David Mulligan (the aforementioned proud hubby) to build their dream home.

The couple had visions of a modern Mediterranean home (coined ‘Moditerranean’ by Bianca) with curves and arches galore and plenty of Three Birds’ signature touches (wait till you see the love child of Lana and Sophie’s staircases!), built over-looking the golf course.

Please tell us ALL about your project!

I've been a Reno School student for 2 years and joined just as we started working on this project. The home was a new build, for our family of five so there are three small children (under six) currently living here, however it was built with the future in mind. We wanted plenty of spaces for the kids to be able to use with their friends with privacy for their teenage years.

The vision for the home was definitely modern Mediterranean with some coastal luxe vibes because, let’s face it, when the Three Birds are your influencers a love of those coastal luxe vibes is strong.

The finished home is two storeys with five bedrooms, two powder rooms, three bathrooms, a laundry room with a shower, a large kitchen with bar, butlers pantry, mudroom, dining, office, media room, two living areas plus a formal lounge. Then there’s the alfresco, BBQ area, pool cabana, 10m pool, backyard, front courtyard and four car garage with the capability to store a caravan, boat or work truck.

WHAT WERE YOUR NON-NEGOTIABLES TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAM HOME?

Some of the must-haves of this project were:

  • Arches for days

  • LOTS of natural light - big windows (so big we had to crane in the 5m void windows)

  • Open plan living and wide hallways

  • Black aluminium windows and feature steel doors

  • Pool area for entertaining

  • Beautiful low-maintenance gardens with lots of lush greenery and cacti

  • Polished concrete floors & Woodcut Engineered Timber Flooring

  • Double Entry doors

  • White on white on white

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FROM START TO FINISH?

The design and planning took two years. Initially, we were taking our time and had to go through two draftsmen before we found the perfect team, to bring our vision to life. The build itself took 10 months, working with our Dream Team of builders. Their attention to detail is second to none and as a result, the finishes in the home are immaculate. It was honestly such a dream to work with them. They just made things happen. Whatever we asked for was no problem at all. I showed them my vision boards and inspo pics and we worked together to make most elements come together perfectly.

Mon Palmer was our landscaping designer and we worked together very closely to achieve the beautiful design of the soft and hard landscaping.

IS CASA BLANCA YOUR FOREVER HOME?

At this point, this is our forever home but never say never! We absolutely loved the whole process and are keen to do it again soon.

What made you sign up for the Reno School and did it help your build?

Watching and following the Three Birds for the last few years is why I signed up for Reno School. I just knew if I could tap into their knowledge we would be able to create something amazing.

What is the BEST thing you learnt from the Reno School?*

Find your Dream Team! Our building designers, Koda Design and builders, CMR Constructions, were crucial to the success of our project.

What did you LOVE most about the course?

I love all the content and sharing that the Three Birds do but the Facebook Group would have to be up there with one of the most valuable resources you could have.

Did you use any of the Reno School Supplier Discounts? And did you read the bonus content?

Yes, yes and yes... thank you so much!

Would you recommend Reno School to a friend?

1000% yes and I do all the time!
