A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS TABLE SETTING YOU'LL LOVE
In Three Birds Christmases past, it’s become a bit of a tradition that we show you how we style our homes for the festive season. But this year, we wanted to share the love and transform a home for a family who deserved a bit of Christmas cheer.
After this crazy year, we’re all wishing for a casual and relaxed Christmas at home so, we thought we’d share a chic but simple table setting that’s easy to copy, without getting your tinsel in a tangle.
OUR FESTIVE VISION
Like with all our projects, renovating or styling, a vision board is our go-to first step in the process and this was no different!
We’re going for a #holidaysathome vibe for #threebirdschristmas2020. It’s summer in Australia so think outdoor dining, native flora, natural colours, casual and relaxed. Here’s our Christmas 2020 vision board…
GATHER YOUR GOODIES
Once we’d nailed our vision board we went on a shopping spree to Westpoint to find all the bits and pieces we needed to pull this Christmas table together.
Great looking styling doesn’t have to cost a bomb! We found gorgeous crockery at Target, cutlery at Kmart and glassware on sale at Bed Bath N’Table.
Alternatively, it’s a great excuse to raid your cupboards and use tableware you already have. We’ve thrown glitz and glam to the wind this year and are pleased to announce that mis-matched glassware and crockery are A-OK!
You’ll need: plates, cutlery, glasses (we went for water, wine and cocktails), a table cloth, cloth napkins, napkin rings, candle holders and some sprigs of foliage.
FUSS FREE STYLING
This Acacia wood outdoor setting from Early Settler is brand new and we wanted to show off the gorgeous timber tones that add to the vibe of our vision. We used a simple linen table cloth, from Myer, as a runner down the centre of the table. If your table has seen better days, go for a table cloth to cover it first, with a runner on top.
Once your table runner is perfectly imperfect, move on to each setting each place. Stack bowls on different coloured plates, add cutlery and glassware. We chose a mix of different coloured and textured glassware for our tumblers, goblets and coupe glasses. Coupe, you say? They’re the need to know glasses this season. From Champagne to cocktails in one glass - yes, please!
Then add linen napkins (they always look better in a napkin ring!) and top it all off with a sprig of foliage.
STRING LEAVES MERRILY UP HIGH
We strung the hanging lanterns, also from Early Settler, with loads of greenery from the garden to frame the table. Tall vases or candlesticks are another great way to add height to the table, just make sure they don’t obscure the view across the table… unless you’re really trying to avoid Great Aunt Edna, and then they might come in handy!
Love the products we’ve used on our table? You’ll find them all at Westpoint! Check out all the details on the Get the Look page, so you can get your hot little hands on them too! xx
