5 WAYS TO GIVE YOUR HOME A QUICK REVAMP

Spring is a great time of year to give your house a bit of a revamp. The weather is good, the flowers are out and Christmas is around the corner. Seriously… Christmas decorations are in store. Like now. #silentscream #yougotthis.

So, what’s the best and most affordable way to give your home a bit of love so it’s looking its best? Here are 5 easy ways to do it.

ADOPT A LESS IS MORE APPROACH, IN OTHER WORDS, DECLUTTER!

Decluttering always feels great. Go through every room and clear out all the stuff that’s just adding mess. Have a garage sale, get your stuff on eBay or grab yourself some quality boxes and packing materials and store your stuff at home.

When we restyled the Beach Shack we went through and removed most of the old furniture and homewares. Some things we got rid of but there were a few special items. So, we simply packed these up in boxes and took them to the local Storage King. They provided everything from the locks to the packaging so it was #tooeasy.

MAKE IT SPARKLE - GET OUT THE SCRUBBING BRUSH

You can clean the house yourself or if you are tight on time why not get in a professional to do it for you. They will clean every nook and cranny of your house, inside and out. Consider hiring a window cleaner as well. You never realise how dirty your windows are until they get cleaned! This can make a BIG difference.

THE POWER OF PAINT - IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, A FRESH COAT OF PAINT WORKS WONDERS

We painted everything white at The Beach Shack. The walls, the ceilings and even the floors. It gave us a beautiful fresh-looking interior and was the perfect blank canvas.

BUY SOME SOFT STUFF - SOFT FURNISHINGS HAVE SO MANY BENEFITS

If whitewashing your floors isn’t an option, rugs work wonders to conceal ugly floorboards and tiles ...and ugly carpet too come to think of it!! Put new bed linen on all the beds and you’ll feel like you have a new bedroom. And don’t think two pillows on a double bed will cut it – you need at least 4 plus a feature cushion or two.  Then in the lounge room spruce things up with a set of new cushions and a throw for all the lounges. This can help distract from dated furniture or just make your existing stuff feel new again.

GREENERY - BOTH INSIDE + OUT

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never had a penchant for flowers and pot plants inside your house, adding greenery here will help make the place look and feel more appealing. Try using faux plants if you want a low maintenance option. Then get rid of dead or dying bushes outside , pull out the weeds and put down some new mulch. Mow the lawn, do the edges and if you discover you’ve got more dirt than grass, consider laying some new turf.
