If your dream home is a little bit modern farmhouse… look no further for inspo! Janine Redman’s home has all of this in spades.
Having lived on their property in the Hunter Valley, NSW for over 33 years, Reno Schooler Janine and her hubby were tossing up whether to renovate their existing home or embrace their dream of building a brand new home on a favourite spot on their property, closer to the lagoon and a little more remote than their current home.
The latter won out but, in Janine’s words, "this new house had to tick a lot of boxes!” With her first granddaughter on the way this year, she has visions of herself in her new kitchen cooking with future grandchildren, so the home needed to be big enough to host family and friends but it also needs to feel good when the couple are home alone.
Janine’s brief to the architect for the 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom house was “Modern Farmhouse meets NZ Lodge”. The project took a little over 2 years from design to completion.

“We’re absolutely in heaven… we don’t ever want to leave.”
When pushed to choose just one favourite room, Janine says ”it would have to be the living space that goes out onto our beautiful entertaining deck with open fire and rural views. I just never want to leave this space… or my amazing kitchen and butler’s pantry which overlooks my herb garden.”

VISION BOARD VISION BOARD VISION BOARD... if you are not sure about something go back to your VISION BOARD... and then the satisfaction and almost shock when you step into your new home, and sit down and look at your original vision board and go... OMG, that is amazing :)
ANY OTHER PROJECTS UP YOUR SLEEVE?
Our family are about to renovate a boutique accommodation in the Vineyards, Hunter Valley and I'll certainly be using the skills, experience and contacts I have gained from Reno School to hopefully unveil something special out there too.
I cannot recommend the Facebook group enough. The value of signing up is amazing... I still go onto the website to check suppliers or any handy hints.
