LANA’S POOLSIDE GETS A MINI MAKEOVER
BY BONNIE
When Lans told me she was upgrading her pool to a new Mineral Swim system, just in time for summer, I could think of no better excuse to give her pool area a mini makeover too. It had been a few years since we last styled the space and with a long hot Sydney summer ahead of us, a revamp would be a great way to see Lana’s prized pool area into a new decade. Here’s what we did to spruce up her pool deck:
+ PIMPED THE PERGOLA
The pergola was already there but the bamboo roof, which provides a bit of shade isn’t fully weather proof, so after a few years the whimsy fabric curtains were ready for replacement. These plain white drapes were a steal from IKEA. At only $15 each they’ll be cheap and easy to replace down the track. We added an outdoor rug for a real lounge room feel and new furniture to change up the look altogether.
+ ADDED FRESH FURNITURE
We chose a lounge setting for the pergola and sun loungers pool side, both from Barbeques Galore. I like a variety of seating arrangements around a pool so you can choose to lounge with a book or sit with a drink. We’ve scattered waterproof big bean bags around the edge too, so there’s definitely no shortage of seating when kids ask their friends around.
+ UPPED THE ANTE WITH NEW TEXTILES
I put in a call to our friend and cushion queen, Grace Garrett that we were going to need new textiles to transform the area. In true Grace style, she came to the party with not only new cushions, but towels, waterproof beanbag covers and umbrellas too. Check out that cute fringing on the brollies! The patterns are borrowed from a range of Grace’s collections, in new colour ways that she created especially for this area. So, there you have it, a super simple and super fresh mini makeover for summer.
