Setting yourself up for a successful reno is all about how you manage the process. And hiring the right people for your reno is SO essential – it’s the magic that enables us to complete our renos quickly. Believe me when I tell you it’s a hell of a lot easier to spend extra time during the hiring process to find the right person than it is to get the wrong person to do a good job

So, when I suggested to Bon that we invite our Reno School students over to her #moderncoastalbarn for a look-see, she hesitated …. And then jumped at the idea.
We had an overwhelming response and could hardly believe our eyes when we scanned the guest list to find we had students flying in from New Zealand, Perth, Melbourne, Far North Queensland, and …. even Singapore! Yep, just a 6,500km journey to view our latest project #commitment #humbled #loveourrenoschoolers
Read MoreMany of us are apprehensive about adding ethnic furniture to our space, for fear of things ending up too ‘boho’. In the latest Three Birds renovation, Bonnie shows us how adding some ethnic pieces, in a neutral palette, can take a room to the next level, and compliment a range of décor styles, especially her amazing ‘coastal barn’ home.
Read MoreThe recent school holidays have got me thinking about my perfect holiday with the family. As lovely as a hotel can be #nocookingforme, with a brood as big as mine I prefer staying at a holiday home. Own it or rent it, you get plenty of space for the kids to run around and some places, like the Beach Shack, even let you take your pets!
Read MoreIn a Three Birds Facebook first, Lana took to Facebook Live with one of our suppliers, Nick Walker, CEO of National Tiles.
Nick dropped into Lana’s forever home #santoriniinsydney for a chat about all things tiles. And yes, he had to take his shoes off and do the interview in his socks! #noshoepolicy #cleanfreak
Bonnie used National Tiles products throughout her dream home to create some amazing tile features. Nick’s faves are Bon’s dog bath and the curved ceiling in the main bathroom #greattaste
Read MoreIf you’re anything like us, drooling over home inspo pics is a favourite pastime #pinningforlife. But if a renovation isn’t on the cards at the moment, sometimes you need a little project to get your creative juices flowing and spruce things up around your home in the meantime. We’re often asked for our best reno hacks, so here are a couple of really easy peasy lemon squeezy ones that you can finish in one weekend.
Read MoreImagine a kitchen which is the complete opposite of Bonnie's kitchen? What would it look like? Small, black-on-black and with no room for an island bench perhaps? BINGO! That's exactly the kitchen we built at The River Shack reno. Despite it's small size, we used every trick in the book to make it as functional as possible and packed with personality. We wanted this kitchen to have a sleek and modern look, so stained the timber veneer cabinets black and teamed it with Vanilla Noir Caesarstone. And our favourite element of the whole kitchen is not what you'd expect - a piece of artwork which is as an eclectic combo of masculine and feminine energy topped off with a strong dose of cabin fever. A car burn-out never looked so pretty. #grittypretty

Read MoreBonnie’s dream home is in the bushy Hills District of Sydney and while this means a gorgeous leafy setting, it also means a few extra building challenges. As if building a forever home of mammoth scale isn’t enough of a task, part of Bonnie’s site is a BAL 40 rated bush fire zone. And with that comes a long list of extra boxes to tick to satisfy council requirements.
Read MoreSo, we were chatting the other day and Bonnie went and dropped the BIG question. What’s my favourite room in her dream home? That’s a pretty tough one… like who’s your favourite child or what’s your favourite meal. Ask me next week and I’m sure my answer will be different to today! Hang on, make it pizza, cold pizza… even it’s bad it’s good.
Read MoreWe've had a lot of you ask about the vintage, concrete trough featured in Bon's colourful laundry. It brings a unique, retro vibe and is also really practical for all that muddy sports gear. But the real reason Bon chose it for her Dream Home was that it has huge sentimental value. You see, we salvaged it from House 5 and that reno holds a very special place in our hearts, especially Bonnie's - watch Episode 2 to learn of the heartbreaking story behind this house.
Read MoreI’ve always had a soft spot for the coast. Some of my fondest memories are of family holidays spent at the beach. And there’s no denying that those times had a big impact on my inspiration for my dream home. Even way back then I remember looking at all the big, white, coastal homes and thinking they were so beautiful. My dream home was always going to be white weatherboard, with palm trees, water glimpses and casual furnishings with pops of luxe.
